Job summary

Lorpon Labels Inc. is seeking an experienced HP Indigo Digital Press Operator to support the Afternoon Shift and Weekend Shift. The role focuses on operating the press, maintaining high quality, and meeting production targets while collaborating with colleagues.

Candidates should have HP Level 1 certification or equivalent training, knowledge of graphic prepress workflows, color management, and the ability to set up and run the press with guidance as needed.

Qualifications

  • HP Level 1 certification with passing grade for 6x00 or 20k presses.
  • HP Indigo sheet-fed press training considered beneficial.
  • Additional Print Production/Operations training is advantageous.
  • Understanding of graphic prepress concepts and workflows is preferred.
  • Strong color perception and quality control abilities.

Job description

Lorpon Labels Inc., an established and fast growing manufacturer of custom printed product labels and other types of packing has an immediate need for an HP Indigo Digital Press Operator for our Afternoon Shift and Weekend Shift to handle all responsibilities relating to the operation of the press, maintaining high levels of quality and production, and be a team player able to effectively communicate with fellow colleagues.

Desired Education:

  • HP Level 1 course completed with passing grade for:
  • 6x00 series presses or 20k series presses.
  • Would also consider certain levels of HP Indigo sheet fed press training courses as beneficial.
  • Additional courses in Print Production or Operations and other similar functional areas are beneficial.

Desired Experience:

  • An understanding of the basic concepts of graphical prepress and prepress workflows will be strongly favored.
  • Understanding of colour theory and practice.

Desired Competencies:

  • An understanding and ability to use common hand tools, and good manual dexterity.
  • Process and procedure orientated.
  • An affinity to detail and quality control.
  • Good visual discrimination, excellent feeling for quality and ability to visualize colours, including the ability to match or detect differences between colours, including shades of colour and brightness. Mechanical aptitude and skills to perform technical adjustment and maintenance of the digital press.
  • An individual that prefers a clean and orderly work environment and follows press maintenance procedures.
  • Analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Able to follow directions clearly and work as part of a team.
  • Previous experience in print production and/or related experience are an asset
  • Ability to conduct tests and inspections to evaluate quality and performance.
  • Must be able to independently set up and run the HP Indigo Press (training will and can be provided)
  • Able to pass a colour perception test

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing for extended periods (up to 8–10 hours per shift) with limited seated breaks
  • Frequent walking between workstations, including when operating multiple presses
  • Monitoring and operating one or more presses simultaneously, requiring sustained attention, prioritization, and time management
  • Repetitive bending, reaching, and twisting while loading/unloading materials and servicing equipment
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials and supplies, typically ranging from light to moderate weight (up to approximately 25–50 lbs depending on task)
  • Maneuvering and positioning paper stock, rolls, and production materials using manual handling techniques and mechanical aids (e.g., roll lifters)
  • Operating machine controls requiring fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and repetitive hand and wrist movements
  • Occasional exertion of force to crank, adjust, or secure rollers and related press components
  • Working in a production environment with deadlines and variable workloads, requiring sustained concentration and visual acuity
  • Ability to safely navigate around moving machinery and perform tasks in proximity to industrial equipment

Lifting/Carrying

  • 0-10 lbs: Constantly
  • 11-50 lbs: Frequently

Other Physical Requirements

  • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, safety glasses, goggles or shields, cut-resistant gloves, and, in accordance with SQF food safety requirements, hair nets and beard nets (where applicable).
  • Ability is to run the digital press this position will require some minor physical exertion.
  • We are SQF certified facility and require hair nets on production floor.

Summary:

The successful candidate will have prior experience in a printing environment (flexo, offset or digital) or in a graphics prepress work environment. A thorough understanding and demonstrated knowledge of graphic workflows, using Adobe Illustrator, and other software in Adobe Creative Suite, plus an understanding of Esko Software, although not required would be considered an asset. Responsibility and reliability are key characteristics we are looking for, as well as a strong willingness to learn and work in a procedure orientated environment. A close working relationship with the prepress graphics team and production management will be required.
