Job summary

Apex Precision Inc. in Canada is seeking a Wire EDM Machinist to program, set up, and operate Wire EDM equipment to produce precision parts per engineering drawings, customer requirements, and manufacturing standards.

The role requires at least 3 years of Wire EDM experience, a DEP in CNC Machining, and the ability to perform complex setups, read GD&T, and maintain high accuracy with a strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience programming, setting up, and operating Wire EDM equipment.
• DEP in CNC Machining or related field.
• Able to perform complex setups independently.
• Ability to read technical drawings (GD&T).
• High level of autonomy, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, work orders, setup sheets, and customer specifications to determine machining requirements.
• Program, set up, and operate Wire EDM machines, including selecting tooling, fixtures, materials, and machining parameters.
• Optimize EDM programs, speeds, feeds, and machine settings to achieve required quality and production efficiency.
• Inspect first-piece and in-process parts, making adjustments to ensure conformance with specifications and quality standards.
• Troubleshoot basic programming, machining, tooling, and equipment issues and report more complex issues.
• Complete production documentation including job tracking, quantities, setup information, and program changes.
• Maintain machines, tools, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, CNC, Engineering, and other departments to support production, continuous improvement, and safe manufacturing practices.
