Job summary

St. Joseph's Hospital in London, Ontario is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Pre-Surgical Screening unit. This casual (part-time) role involves nursing histories, medication reviews, coordinating tests, and supporting anesthesia consults.

Qualifications

Valid registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
2 years recent acute surgical experience within the last 5 years.
Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA.
Ability and willingness to supervise under OHSA.
Self-directed and able to work independently.
Demonstrated teaching skills for patients and families.

Responsibilities

Facilitate patient flow through the pre-admission program by completing nursing histories.
Review medications and arrange for additional testing as needed.
Assist with medication administration and anesthesia consults.
Provide education for before- and after-surgery care.
