Job summary

Paladin Airport Security Services is hiring Pre-Board Screening Officers for Nanaimo Airport (YCD). You will screen passengers and baggage, operate X-ray and metal detectors, and provide information with integrity to keep travellers safe. Paid training starts at $22.33/hour and rises to $25.34/hour after certification.

What do Pre-Board Screening Officers do?

• Efficiently screening passengers and baggage through airport security checkpoints
• Scanning and testing baggage for prohibited items usings X-ray machines, metal detectors and other technology, along with physical search techniques
• Providing information professionally and with integrity
• Protecting restricted areas
• Managing conflict
• Communicating clearly and effectively
• Upholding all regulations with vigilance

You will receive paid training at $22.33/hour , increasing to $25.34/hour following the successful completion of training and full certification.

What You Bring:

• Excellent customer service skills, preferably in a high-volume environment for a minimum of one (1) year
• Open availability to work any shift as required by the airport operations, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal; fluency in French is an asset
• Ability to comply with the CATSA medical requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

This role is fully based at the Nanaimo Airport (YCD).

If you are successful in the application process, you will be required to apply for a Transport Security Clearance (TSC), which requires an extensive background check. Once obtained, you will be eligible to begin the Screening Officer Foundations (SOF) course, which must be successfully passed prior to beginning work as a Pre-Board Screening Officer.
