Job summary

Paladin Airport Security Services Ltd. at Victoria International Airport (YYJ) is seeking Pre-Board Screening Officers.

You’ll use exceptional customer service to uphold passenger safety and create a positive travel experience, screening passengers and baggage with X-ray and detectors, protecting restricted areas, and managing conflicts. You’ll receive paid training at $25.24/hour, rising to $27.72/hour after certification, with comprehensive benefits and a supplied uniform.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service in high-volume environments.
• Open availability for airport shifts, including weekends/holidays.
• Strong English communication; French is an asset.
• Able to meet CATSA medical requirements.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must reside in Victoria or surrounding area; Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

What do Pre-Board Screening Officers do?

You will be using your exceptional customer service skills to uphold the safety of passengers and create a positive travel experience by:

• Efficiently screening passengers and baggage through airport security checkpoints
• Scanning and testing baggage for prohibited items using X-ray machines, metal detectors, other technology, along with physical search techniques
• Protecting restricted areas
• Managing conflict
• Communicating clearly and effectively
• Upholding all regulations with vigilance

What You Bring:

• Excellent customer service skills, preferably in a high-volume environment for a minimum of one (1) year
• Open availability to work any shift as required by the airport operations, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal; fluency in French is an asset
• Ability to comply with the CATSA medical requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Current resident of Victoria, or the surrounding area
• Must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident

This role will be fully based at Victoria International Airport (YYJ).Work hours will reflect opening hours of the airport, from early morning to evening, and including weekend and holidays.

If you are successful in the application process, you will be required to apply for a Transport Security Clearance (TSC), which requires an extensive background check. Once obtained, you will be eligible to begin the Screening Officer Foundations (SOF) course, which much be successfully passed prior to beginning work as a Pre-Board Screening Officer.
