Job description

Georgian Animal Hospital in Parry Sound is seeking an enthusiastic full-time Practice Manager to join our team. The Practice Manager will provide onsite leadership and oversight of the veterinary healthcare team to ensure high-quality care for our patients and their owners.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Provide onsite leadership and oversight of the veterinary healthcare team to maximize hospital performance.
  2. Lead continuous improvement of customer service and medical care quality.
  3. Ensure smooth communication during client visits and work with the Medical Director to resolve concerns.
  4. Oversee client communication, including welcome letters, sympathy cards, and newsletters, ensuring adherence to protocols and timelines.
  5. Implement team scripting, in-hospital marketing, and social media strategies to attract and retain clients, increase referrals, and build community goodwill.
  6. Meet client needs for veterinary care, track new clients and visits, and achieve appointment and surgery fill rate goals.
  7. Ensure the team has adequate resources to deliver exceptional patient care.
  8. Understand and help manage the hospital's financial drivers.
  9. Monitor revenue and expenses, manage inventory, and collaborate on budget and business plans with the Regional Manager and Medical Director.
  10. Prepare financial and accounting reports, maintain financial records, and ensure staffing aligns with schedules and budgets.
  11. Act as a positive role model, fostering collaboration and open communication.
  12. Recruit, mentor, and retain a high-performing team, emphasizing accountability and morale.
  13. Monitor key performance indicators and implement strategies for improvement.
  14. Review and optimize fee schedules, revenue categories, and discounting practices.
  15. Utilize available resources to analyze operations and make effective decisions.
  16. Ensure compliance with standards and regulations such as Employment Standards, CVO, AAHA, WHMIS, OHS, X-ray, etc.
  17. Provide coaching, training, and development to hospital staff.
  18. Assist with reception duties as needed, including client intake, discharge, scheduling, and front office management.

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of two years' experience leading a veterinary or medical healthcare team preferred.
  • Education in business administration preferred.
  • Experience in Human Resources, strategic planning, budget management, coaching, conflict resolution, and relationship building is desirable.
  • Strong communication skills and a progressive, strategic approach are essential.
