Job summary

MEDA Limited in Windsor, Ontario is seeking an experienced Powertrain OBD Calibration Engineer to support our automotive client with hands-on calibration, testing and diagnostic verification. The role requires travel to the USA up to one week at a time for system validation, offers a CAD 31–35 hourly rate with benefits after 90 days, pension eligibility after one year, and a referral bonus.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, 3 years propulsion

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering.
  • 3 years' propulsion experience.
  • Proficient using INCA, Matlab and Simulink/Stateflow.
  • Gasoline propulsion system hardware knowledge.
  • OBD experience.
  • Gas emission calibration experience preferred.
  • Safety diagnostics or related diagnostics experience helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement best practice calibration solutions and perform diagnostic verification testing.
  • Manage all technical aspects of the OBD calibrations to meet CARB regulations.
  • Identify system requirements during system hardware design to ensure a robust diagnostic system.
  • Use standard instrumentation for data acquisition, storage, and analysis; calibrate diagnostic thresholds to CARB standards.
  • Provide regular overview summaries and detailed reports on assignments, including timing projections.
  • Developing and implementing best practice calibration.
  • Onboard diagnostics (OBD)
  • Application from ground up or existing applications
  • Standard data acquisition and calibration diagnostic thresholds
  • Approximately 80% of the work is hands-on testing.

Job description

We are recruiting an experienced Powertrain OBD Calibration Engineer to join our team to support our client in the automotive industry.

NOTE: Must be willing and able to travel to the USA, without restrictions, effective on the start date. Requires up to 1 week of travel at a time to Colorado for system validation/verification.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Developing and implementing best practice calibration solutions and performing diagnostic verification testing
  • Manage all technical aspects of the OBD diagnostic calibrations to meet CARB regulations
  • Identify system requirements during system hardware design to insure a robust diagnostic system
  • Use standard instrumentation toolsets for data acquisition, storage, and analysis, calibrate diagnostic thresholds to meet CARB regulations
  • Provide regular overview summaries and detailed reports on specific assignments, including timing projections
  • Developing and implementing best practice calibration
  • Onboard diagnostics (OBD)
  • Application from ground up or application already in service
  • Standard data acquisition and calibration diagnostic thresholds
  • Approximately 80% of the work is hands-on testing
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering
  • 3 years' of propulsion experience
  • Proficient using INCA, Matlab and Simulink/Stateflow
  • Basic understanding of gasoline propulsion system hardware and function
  • Gasoline propulsion system experience.
  • OBD experience
  • Gas emission calibration experience is preferred
  • Safety diagnostics or any diagnostics experience is helpful
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
  • $31.00 - $35.00/ hour (depending on experience)
  • Paid Benefits after 90 days (individual and family) – extended medical, out-of-country coverage, dental etc.
  • Pension eligibility, with employer match, after 1 full year of work
