Job summary

Stuart Olson Industrial Projects in Northern Alberta is seeking experienced Journeyperson Powerline Technicians to support transmission and distribution work across remote sites. Candidates must be IBEW-affiliated or willing to join; required credentials include Powerline Technician certificate and Red Seal preferred.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Powerline Technician certificate or equivalent.
• Red Seal endorsement preferred.
• Experience with transmission and distribution systems is required.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground transmission and distribution power systems.
• Work on wood poles, steel poles, lattice structures, anchors, conductors, transformers, switches, insulators, and related infrastructure.
• Install, maintain, and operate high-voltage electrical equipment and disconnect switches.
• Perform conductor stringing, sagging, splicing, grounding, and termination activities.
• Complete inspections, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on electrical distribution systems.
• Work safely in accordance with utility, client, and company procedures.
• Mentor apprentices and junior employees while promoting safe work practices.
• Participate in job planning, hazard assessments, and safety meetings.
• Maintain accurate field documentation and reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Candidates must be willing to join the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) or already be a member of an affiliated IBEW organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground transmission and distribution power systems.

• Interprovincial Red Seal endorsement preferred
• Experience working on transmission and distribution systems.
• Strong understanding of utility construction, maintenance, and repair practices.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License (Class 1 or 3 considered an asset).
• Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
• Ability to work in remote locations and travel as required

Working Conditions

• Working outdoors in various weather conditions.

• Travel to remote project locations.
• Shift work and rotational schedules may be required.
