Job summary

Fidelity Utilities Inc. is seeking a Powerline Technician Apprentice to develop practical skills and knowledge to progress toward Journeyperson status under qualified supervision. The role includes utility construction, maintenance, pole-line work, and documentation of activities.

The wage package covers hourly pay, vacation and statutory holiday pay, health and welfare benefits, RRSP contributions, and a Living Out Allowance based on location. Overtime follows the applicable union agreement.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 mathematics and English or recognized equivalent.
• Registered or eligible for registration in the applicable CUSW-recognized Powerline Technician apprenticeship program.
• Progression through apprenticeship periods is based on verified hours, schooling, competencies, and applicable apprenticeship and CBA requirements.
• Valid driver’s license for assigned duties and all required entry-level safety qualifications.
• Ability to use company-approved field software, tablets, and other required technology.
• Demonstrated reliability, safe conduct, willingness to learn, teamwork, and respect for supervision and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Report to the Foreperson and work under the supervision of Journeyperson Powerline Technicians.
• Participate in utility construction, maintenance, pole-line, material-handling, and restoration activities appropriate to the apprentice level.
• Follow tailboards, hazard assessments, safe-work procedures, grounding instructions, and minimum approach distance requirements.
• Assist with pole framing, conductor work, equipment installation, line maintenance, storm response, and other duties per training level.
• Complete required field records, apprenticeship documentation, training records, photographs, and reporting.
• Immediately report incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, equipment failures, and quality concerns.
