Job summary

Iconic Power Systems is seeking PLT Apprentices to contribute to electrical maintenance and construction on unionized worksites in Bracebridge. You will work under Journeypersons, participate in safety briefings, and develop trade skills through hands-on experience and formal training. Local residency or reasonable commuting distance is required; joining CUSW is expected.

The role emphasizes safety, quality, teamwork, and a path toward certification as a tradesperson.

Qualifications

  • Must meet Ontario High School diploma requirements or GED/CAEC.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license; able to pass PAT and a negative drug/alcohol test (safety sensitive).
  • 0–4 years’ experience as a trades apprentice in high voltage, electrical, or distribution construction.

Responsibilities

  • Support Journeypersons with key tasks on site.
  • Perform basic trade tasks under supervision.
  • Think independently to solve on-site challenges.
  • Communicate clearly with colleagues and public to build relationships.
  • Be proficient with power and hand tools.
  • Maintain housekeeping and tool care to keep site organized.
  • Gradually take on more tasks as skills improve.
  • Seek continuous improvement in efficiency and quality of work.
  • Take direction from Journeypersons, Supervisors and Forepersons.
  • Participate in daily tailboard and safety meetings and complete daily safety documentation.
