Job summary

K-Line Group of Companies is seeking an Apprentice to support construction, installation and maintenance of transmission and distribution systems in Calgary. You will assist with live line work, inspections and routine tasks to build foundational skills toward Journeyman status.

The role involves climbing poles, working outdoors in varied weather and coordinating with a crew to ensure safe, reliable service. Training is provided for progression in the Powerline Technician path.

Qualifications

  • Working towards completion of Powerline Technician Apprenticeship.
  • Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset.
  • Valid Class 3A Driver’s License.
  • Knowledge of Provincial Electrical Utilities Regulations and the Occupational Health & Safety Act is an asset.
  • Ability to climb poles, work at heights and endure extreme weather.
  • Strong communication, leadership, teamwork and customer service skills.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and plan projects for self and others.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with installation, repair, troubleshooting and maintenance of overhead powerlines and distribution systems.
  • Operate line trucks and related equipment in a safe manner.
  • Assist with inspection and testing of overhead power lines and equipment.
  • Respond to outages and contribute to crew tasks with open communication and teamwork.
