The position focuses on understanding and predicting grid behavior under varying conditions with renewable energy integration, employing advanced simulations and analytical methods.

The candidate will work on models, analyses, and recommendations to enhance stability and ensure uninterrupted power supply, collaborating with operators and engineers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a power systems focus.
  • 6+ years of experience in power system analysis and simulation.
  • Strong knowledge of stability, protection, and control systems.
  • Experience with renewable energy integration studies.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform power flow, short-circuit, and dynamic stability analyses of the electrical transmission and distribution network.
  • Develop and validate power system models using simulation software (PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory).
  • Assess the impact of new generation interconnections, load changes, and grid contingencies.
  • Identify and analyze potential grid instability issues, such as voltage collapse or frequency deviations.
  • Develop strategies and recommendations for grid upgrades, protection system settings, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with grid operators, planning engineers, and asset managers to ensure system security and reliability.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Power Systems Analyst to join their team, contributing to grid stability and reliability initiatives with a connection to Kimberley . This role is essential for understanding and predicting the behavior of the electrical grid under various operating conditions, particularly as renewable energy sources are increasingly integrated. You will utilize advanced simulation tools and analytical techniques to assess grid performance, identify potential vulnerabilities, and recommend solutions to enhance stability and ensure uninterrupted power supply. This hybrid role allows for flexible remote work combined with necessary on-site analysis and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform power flow, short-circuit, and dynamic stability analyses of the electrical transmission and distribution network.
  • Develop and validate power system models using simulation software (e.g., PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory).
  • Assess the impact of new generation interconnections, load changes, and grid contingencies.
