Job summary

United Rentals, the world’s largest equipment rental provider, is seeking a Power HVAC Mechanic (Service Tech III) within the Power/HVAC division. You’ll perform maintenance and minor repairs on diesel engines, HVAC equipment, and dehumidification/air purification systems, delivering safe, professional service and helping customers operate equipment effectively.

This role emphasizes hands-on mechanical work, on-site travel to customer sites, and mentoring lower level technicians.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 3-5 years of experience with repairing and maintaining diesel engines or HVAC equipment.
• Strong diagnostic and repair skills for mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, pneumatic systems.
• Own the tools applicable to position.
• Superior customer service and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on rental and customer equipment.
• Report machine condition to Management
• Responsible for service documentation
• Occasional travel to customer sites
• Demonstrate equipment for customers
• Train lower level technicians as needed
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts
• Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 3-5 years of experience with repairing and maintaining diesel engines or HVAC equipment
• Intermediate to advanced diagnostic and repair skills for mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, pneumatic and other systems
• Strong mechanical background knowledge particularly with various engines
• Basic understanding of schematics and diagrams
• Own the tools applicable to position
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals’ policies and procedures.
