Job summary

United Rentals is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech IV) in Nova Scotia to perform maintenance and repairs on complex rental equipment with minimal supervision. You will work to ensure safety and reliability while delivering exceptional customer service at customer sites.

Responsibilities include on-site repairs, training junior technicians, maintaining documentation, and assisting with equipment transport as needed. This role is full-time and based in New Glasgow.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
• Must own tools applicable to position and valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems with limited supervision.
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance as needed; keep service vehicle clean.
• Assist in training lower level technicians.
• Maintain paperwork of work orders daily.
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment and parts.
• Perform other duties as needed.

As a Diesel Mechanic - Experienced (Service Tech IV), you'll use your skills to perform maintenance and repairs of complex equipment with limited or no supervision in a highly skilled, safe, and professional manner. What You'll Do

• Maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of rental and customer equipment and tools while using a high degree of independent judgment
• When required, travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer owned equipment; must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner
• Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts
• Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• 5+ years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools
• Extensive knowledge of construction equipment with an advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams
• Must own tools applicable to position
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
