Job summary

AV Group NB Inc. in Atholville, NB invites applications for a Power Engineer - Steam & Recovery Operator. You will operate and maintain a low pressure steam plant, perform preventative maintenance on boilers and related equipment, and ensure compliance with codes.

You’ll monitor DCS operations, troubleshoot equipment, keep logs, and collaborate with fellow operators to optimize the recovery process. A 4th Class Power Engineer certificate is required; rotating shifts and overtime are expected.

Qualifications

• Includes a valid 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate is required; 3rd or 2nd Class certification is an asset.
• Experience is considered an asset.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime and in-calls.
• Good basic computer and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor control of operation through DCS.
• Troubleshoot equipment.
• Maintain accurate log entries and perform testing.
• Optimize and control materials for recovery system.
• Collaborate with other operators.
• Lubricate, oil, and assist in preventative maintenance.
• Maintain housekeeping in steam plant areas.
• Respond to trouble calls during weekends and off shifts.
• Participate in plant equipment repairs and installations.
• Interface with contractual and inspection departments for corrective requirements.

Power Engineer - Steam & Recovery Operator

As the Steam & Recovery Operator you will operate and maintain a power plant or any low pressure steam plant by operating, repairing and carrying out preventative maintenance on the boilers, emergency power, and other related equipment of the facility in compliance with applicable codes and regulations.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Monitor control of operation through DCS (distributed computer system)
• Effectively troubleshoot equipment
• Maintain accurate and thorough log entries and perform necessary testing.
• Optimize and control materials to efficiently treat and dispose into recovery system.
• Work in collaboration of other operators.
• Lubricates, oils, and assists in preventative maintenance on all machinery.
• Maintains proper housekeeping in all related steam plant areas.
• Responds to trouble calls and carries out necessary corrective action during weekends and off shifts.
• Participate in plant equipment repairs & installations;
• Interface with necessary contractual & inspection departments for corrective requirements.
