Job summary

AV Group NB Inc. is seeking an Operating Mechanic – Welder in the Maintenance Department at the Nackawic Mill.

The role focuses on daily maintenance activities and capital projects, reporting to a Maintenance Supervisor and Mechanical Superintendent. Responsibilities include improving procedures, responding to call-ins, working at heights and in confined spaces, and upholding health and safety rules with required PPE.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent is required.
• Welder Journeyman Red Seal preferred; F4 ticket preferred.
• Two years of relevant welding experience is ideal.
• Experience welding pressure piping per DoL regulations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recommend improvements to procedures and plans as part of CI.
• Respond to call-ins as required while maintaining safety.
• Work at heights and in confined spaces following PPE rules.
• Carry out daily maintenance and capital maintenance projects in the mill.

Operating Mechanic - Welder

AV Group NB Inc. is currently recruiting an Operating Mechanic – Welder in the Maintenance Department.

Role Overview:

Reporting to a Maintenance Supervisor and ultimately, the Mechanical Superintendent, the successful candidate will work to execute daily maintenance activities and/or capital and major maintenance projects internal to the Nackawic Mill.

Description of Duties:

• Recommend improvements to procedures, practices & plans, as part of continuous improvement;
• Respond to call-ins as required;
• Able to work at heights and in confined spaces;
• Work safely at all times while using required PPE per Health and Safety rules and regulations.

Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:

• A minimum of a Grade 12 Graduation or equivalent;
• A valid Welder Journeyman Red Seal Trade certificate is preferred;
• F4 Qualified Ticket preferred;
• Experience welding pressure piping to Department of Labour regulations preferred;
• A minimum of two years relevant work experience is ideal;
• Despite your usual working hours, you will be expected to work the hours necessary to carry out all your responsibilities, and expected to be available to work reasonable overtime;
• Must be self-motivated, results oriented, and be flexible to work well under tight schedules in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary team environment;
• Candidates must be able to work safely and promote safety in the workplace;
• Able to adapt to various work assignments;
• Successful candidates must show experience to support continuous improvement initiatives;
• Ability to work as a team player with a positive attitude and strong communication skills;
• The successful candidate must be prepared to continue training and participate in the employer’s training program.
