Job description

Daanaa is a Vancouver-based fabless power electronics and semiconductor company on a mission to build a simpler, efficient future in energy generation, storage, distribution, consumption, and management, for generations ahead. The company is in the early commercialization stages of deep tech power conversion and control technologies, offering innovative solutions to OEMs in multiple industries, including solar energy, electric vehicles, and data centers.

Daanaa's value is derived from its transformative Power Transaction Unit (PTU) that consolidates power electronic functions—from bi-directional conversion and amplification to management, transfer, diagnostics, and control—onto a single, high-power-density, high-efficiency, low-profile, scalable, reliable, and safe module. At Daanaa, we are building a world of Energy Untethered™

We are growing here at Daanaa and are looking for aPower Electronics Controls Engineerto join our R&D team. In this role, you will develop and design breakthrough control technologies for next generation power conversion and power processing architectures, emphasizing control science as a strategic differentiator in performance, and product innovation. You will work alongside world-class engineers to transform advanced research into scalable technologies that shape the future of power electronics.

What you’ll be doing:
Advanced Control Architecture & Algorithm Development
  • Architect and develop advanced control solutions for novel power converter and inverter topologies, enabling next-generation power transfer methods.
  • Design and implement nonlinear, predictive, adaptive, model-based, and distributed control algorithms to maximize system performance, efficiency, robustness, and reliability.
  • Lead control-topology co-design to optimize converter architectures, switching strategies, and overall system performance.
Modeling, System Dynamics & Stability Engineering
  • Develop control-oriented behavioral, circuit, and dynamic system models to analyze converter performance across a wide range of operating conditions.
  • Perform stability analysis, compensation design, dynamic interaction studies, and system optimization for advanced power conversion systems.
  • Establish modeling and stability frameworks that support scalable control architecture development and technology validation.
  • Validate control concepts through simulation, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), rapid prototyping, and proof-of-principle demonstrations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with power electronics, semiconductor, systems, and embedded engineering teams to co-optimize converter architectures, devices, and control strategies.
  • Translate advanced control concepts from research into scalable technology platforms and commercial product development.
  • Provide technical leadership in the development and integration of next-generation power conversion technologies.
  • Generate proprietary control innovations and contribute to Daanaa's intellectual property portfolio through patents and novel control methodologies.
You should apply if…
  • You have 10+ years of experience in power electronics, control systems, or related fields
  • You have strong expertise in nonlinear, predictive, adaptive, or model-based control for power electronics
  • You have experience developing dynamic system models, stability analysis, and compensation techniques
  • You have hands-on experience implementing real-time control on DSPs, MCUs, or FPGA-based platforms using C/C++
  • You are proficient with simulation tools and validation techniques, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and rapid prototyping
  • You have experience developing control solutions for high-performance power conversion systems
  • You have a demonstrated track record of innovation through patents, publications, or breakthrough algorithm development
  • You are comfortable collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • You hold an M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Control Systems, or a related discipline
