Job description

Location: 2700 John St., Markham, ON L3R 2W4 (On-Site)

Join the forefront of the direct current (DC) power revolution with Cence Power.

Cence Power is a growing deep tech company pioneering the next generation of direct current (DC) power distribution systems for telecom, data centers, and lighting. We envision a world that leverages every watt of power, enabled by elegant engineering that sets the global standard for safe power distribution. We're on a mission to be the global standard in safe and efficient DC power distribution across a comprehensive ecosystem of low-voltage and fault-managed power products. By joining our team, you’ll be part of a dynamic group shaping the future of electrical power distribution.

We’re looking for a highly organized and driven Technical Project Manager to champion our multidisciplinary product development for lighting and telecom power applications. This role is the organizational engine of our product development process, responsible for coordinating timelines, resources, and deliverables across hardware, software, and firmware teams to ensure exceptional products are built on time, meet strict compliance standards, and scale seamlessly into manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Execution
  • Build, monitor, and maintain comprehensive project schedules across multidisciplinary engineering teams (power electronics, RF, analog electronics, systems design, and embedded firmware/software).
  • Synchronize development cadences, expertly managing the differing timelines between long-lead hardware fabrication cycles and agile firmware/software sprints.
  • Identify, track, and mitigate project risks, bottlenecks, and critical path dependencies to ensure all engineering milestones are delivered on time.
  • Administer and optimize project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, MS Project) to streamline workflows and maximize efficiency.
Cross-Functional Alignment (Sales & Operations)
  • Partner cross-collaboratively with Sales to track product scope, ensuring the "voice of the customer" and market requirements remain aligned with active engineering deliverables.
  • Act as the critical bridge between Engineering and Operations, coordinating New Product Introduction (NPI) phases, tracking Design for Manufacturing (DFM) requirements, and ensuring seamless handoffs from prototype to mass production.
Product Lifecycle & Compliance Scheduling
  • Drive product lifecycle management (PLM) workflows from concept to commercialization.
  • Manage the complex scheduling and documentation requirements for product compliance and certification lifecycles (including UL and other regulatory standards), ensuring pre-compliance testing is booked and executed on time.
Strategy, Reporting & Documentation
  • Deliver clear, executive-level status reports, translating complex engineering progress and risks into actionable insights for leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Drive predictability in engineering cycles, turning complex R&D initiatives into reliable delivery schedules.
  • Manage and track SR&ED technical documentation to maximize R&D capital.
  • Maintain organized repositories for Intellectual Property (IP) creation and management.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of proven experience in technical project management within a hardware & software product company.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects that span power electronics, RF, analog electronics, systems design, and embedded firmware/software.
  • Familiarity with product compliance, certification, and regulatory standards timelines (ideally for products in the lighting, telecom, or data center markets).
  • Deep expertise in PLM tools and project management frameworks (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall). PMP or Scrum Master certifications are a strong asset.
  • Strong understanding of DFM principles and experience coordinating the scale-up of prototype products into mass manufacturing.
  • Experience tracking SR&ED documentation and IP management workflows.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills. Highly capable of translating engineering updates to executive audiences and partnering with sales to define scope.
  • Comfortable operating with agility in a fast-paced, high-growth scale-up environment.
