Job summary

WSP Canada seeks a Distribution Line Engineer in Ontario to design resilient power distribution systems for overhead and underground networks up to 35kV. You will apply CSA standards, prepare calculations and construction documents, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across projects.

The role emphasizes delivering compliant designs, leveraging PLS-CADD/SPIDAcalc, and supporting project delivery through site visits and reviews. A licensed engineer with Ontario credentials is preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering and licensure in Ontario (P.Eng) or near licensure.
• 5–10 years of distribution line design experience (4kV–35kV).
• Experience with non-linear powerline design software (PLS-CADD, SPIDAcalc).
• Proficiency in distribution modelling, structure analysis tools, and CAD/drafting interfaces.
• Familiarity with CSA standards and utility construction practices.

Responsibilities

• Design overhead and underground power distribution systems for projects from customer connections to large-scale reconfigurations.
• Prepare engineering calculations, design packages, equipment sizing, material specifications, and construction documentation.
• Apply distribution design software and CSA standards to deliver accurate, compliant designs.
• Coordinate with clients, project managers, and internal teams for estimates, schedules, bids and engineering support.
• Conduct site visits, quality reviews, and construction-phase support to ensure safety and accuracy.
• Strengthen client relationships and contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
