Job summary

Hatch is seeking a Power and Control Engineering Student for a 16-month internship starting May 2027, based at our Mississauga Head Office. You will assist on global projects in the Power and Control fields, working with engineers across disciplines to develop innovative solutions.

The role requires 3rd/4th year engineering study with coursework in controls, power systems, and programming. MATLAB, AutoCAD, and PLC experience are advantageous; mentorship and hands-on learning are emphasized.

Qualifications

  • 3rd/4th year engineering student enrolled in Controls, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, Engineering Physics or related field.
  • Coursework in Controls, Electronics, System Modeling, Power Systems, Programming.
  • Strong academic performance while participating in activities outside classes.
  • Experience with MATLAB, AutoCAD, MicroStation, PLC programming and other real-time controllers is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform calculations, simulations, and modelling of systems and processes for active projects.
  • Programming automation systems.
  • Evaluate new technology designs.
  • Analyze system data collected from client sites.
  • Specify system component requirements and research commercially available equipment.
  • Assist with R&D of new technologies and applications for real clients.
  • Create technical and business reports and presentations for clients.
