Qualifications

Position Summary:

Hatch is seeking a Controls Engineering Trainee to join our Technologies Group. In this role, you will support projects globally working from our Mississauga Head Office.

Our group is comprised of Engineers from many disciplines, who work together to develop solutions to enhance technologies such as electric arc furnace control,novel instrumentation, coating mass controllers, power stabilization systems and microgrid controllers.

Responsibilities:

Daily tasks would vary based on the current project, but responsibilities could include:

  • Control and automation software development – including design, programming and commissioning equipment at the client’s site.
  • Data and system analysis to diagnose limitations and identify improvements.
  • Working with vendors and clients to ensure a positive outcome.
  • Research and development of new technologies to help our clients meet their challenges.

In this role you will work primarily in the Power and Control Technologies field and interact with engineers from all disciplines, in a team environment.

Education and Experience:
  • Must be graduating in 2027 a recent graduate of a Bachelor of Engineering or Applied Science degree from an accredited university in the controls, electrical, mechatronics (or related) discipline.
  • Academic courses should include Control Systems, Programming and Electric Circuits.
  • Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community.
  • Must have proven skills with MATLAB and MS Office.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, R, Python, LabView, PLC programming and other real-time controllers an asset.

  • Good understanding of engineering and business fundamentals as they apply to engineering problems and projects.

Compensation:

Range: $81,000 - $84,000

At Hatch, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. In accordance with legislated pay transparency requirements, the expected salary range for this position is based on current market data and aligned with internal pay structures to ensure consistency and fairness.

Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location. In addition to base pay, our total rewards package may include performance-based incentives, comprehensive benefits, and other programs designed to support your well-being and growth.
