Job summary

Jobtailor in Toronto is hiring a Business Intelligence/Reporting Specialist to design and maintain Power BI reports and data models. You will write SQL queries against ERP databases, develop Crystal Reports, and embed dashboards in web pages using HTML/CSS/Bootstrap.

The role requires strong SQL and Power BI skills, Windows Server administration, and experience with Git/GitHub. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and present findings to non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Must have post-secondary education in business intelligence, computer science, information systems, statistics, or a related field, or 3-5 years of industry experience in a BI or data analysis role
• Must have demonstrated proficiency with Power BI, including data modelling, DAX measures, Power Query, report design, and publishing/scheduled refreshes
• Must have strong SQL skills, including joins, aggregation, window functions, views, and performance tuning
• Experience developing and maintaining Crystal Reports is required
• Working knowledge of Windows Server administration for reporting (scheduled tasks, permissions, file shares, etc.)
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap for small web changes and report embedding
• Must use Git/GitHub for version control (branching, PRs, code review)
• Must be able to use AI-assisted tools effectively and with judgement
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and present findings clearly
• Ability to investigate discrepancies and verify figures against source systems

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, datasets, and data models
• Write, review, and tune SQL queries against ERP and in-house databases
• Develop and maintain Crystal Reports and support report users
• Translate management requests into reporting requirements and confirm definitions
• Apply consistent visual design to reports and dashboards
• Administer reporting infrastructure on Windows Server (scheduled jobs, permissions, file shares)
• Embed reports into application pages with HTML/CSS/Bootstrap
• Prepare status reports and presentations for management
• Use Git and GitHub for version control of definitions and code
• Verify reported figures against source systems and investigate discrepancies
• Document data sources, report definitions, measures, and processes
• Provide training and support to report consumers
• Use AI-assisted tools responsibly and with judgement
• Perform analysis and reporting tasks in cross-functional team
• Collaborate with Tayco's Etobicoke facility team
