Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst to design, develop, and maintain Power BI solutions for our Toronto-area operations. You will transform management requests into concrete reporting needs, validate data against source systems, and deliver dashboards with strong visual design.

You will tune SQL queries, manage Crystal Reports, and administer Windows Server reporting infrastructure while collaborating with a small cross-functional team.

Qualifications

• Must have post-secondary education in business intelligence, computer science, information systems, statistics, or a related field, or 3-5 years of industry experience in a business intelligence or data analysis role.
• Must have demonstrated proficiency with Power BI, including data modelling, DAX measures, Power Query, report design, and management of publishing and scheduled refreshes.
• Must have strong SQL skills, including joins, aggregation, window functions, views, and query performance tuning against relational databases.
• Experience developing and maintaining Crystal Reports is required.
• Working knowledge of Windows Server administration for reporting, including scheduled tasks, permissions, service accounts, file shares, and report distribution.
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap, sufficient for small changes to existing web application pages and embedding reports.
• Must be able to use Git and GitHub for version control, including branching, pull requests, and code review.
• Must be able to use AI-assisted tools effectively and with judgement.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, datasets, and data models.
• Write, review, and tune SQL queries, views, and stored procedures against ERP and in-house application databases.
• Develop and maintain Crystal Reports and support report users.
• Translate management requests into defined reporting requirements and confirm definitions before building.
• Apply consistent visual design to reports and dashboards.
• Administer reporting infrastructure on Windows Server, including scheduled jobs, permissions, service accounts, file shares, and report distribution.
• Contribute light HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap front-end work and embed reports into web applications.
• Prepare presentation materials, summaries, and project status reports for management.
• Use Git and GitHub for version control and review practices.
• Verify reported figures against source systems and resolve discrepancies.
• Document data sources, report definitions, measures, and reporting processes.
• Provide training and support to report consumers.
• Use AI-assisted tools responsibly while reviewing and remaining accountable for delivered queries, measures, and figures.
• Perform analysis and reporting tasks as required.
• Work alongside full stack developers and a project coordinator to support the business intelligence layer of in-house applications.
