Job summary

AdvanTec Marine is seeking a Powder Coater to join our Paint team in Chilliwack, BC. The role focuses on advanced surface preparation and finishing for marine closures, cranes, and components, with hands-on experience in prep, priming, and finishing.

You will operate cleaning and coating equipment, apply powder coatings, inspect for quality, and work closely with painters, welders, and fabricators. The position requires a high school diploma and reliability, with an hourly wage of CAD 20–23

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or GED is required or equivalent.
• Strong attention to detail and quality-focused.
• Ability to work in a team environment and follow processes.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and follow established procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate dip tank cleaning systems to clean and prepare parts for coating.
• Load and unload parts from cleaning tanks safely and efficiently.
• Maintain and update cleaning and coating schedules to track parts moving through the process.
• Perform paint stripping and surface preparation activities.
• Apply powder coatings according to company procedures and quality standards.
• Inspect finished work and perform touch-ups or reworks as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and equipment.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear PPE.
• Collaborate with painters, welders, and fabricators as part of the production team.

The Role: Powder Coater

The Powder Coater is a skilled position responsible for advanced surface preparation and finishing for marine, cranes, and closures. This role will have hands‑on experience with Bondo, Bodywork, and priming, as well as expertise in prepping and finishing a variety of surfaces.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate dip tank cleaning systems to clean and prepare parts for coating.
• Load and unload parts from cleaning tanks safely and efficiently.
• Maintain and update cleaning and coating schedules to track parts moving through the process.
• Perform paint stripping and surface preparation activities.
• Operate sandblasting equipment to remove contaminants and prepare surfaces for finishing.Prepare parts for powder coating by cleaning, masking, hanging, and inspecting components.
• Apply powder coatings according to company procedures and quality standards.
• Inspect completed work for quality and identify defects requiring touch‑up or rework.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and equipment.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Work collaboratively with painters, welders, fabricators, and other production staff.
• Support other production activities as required.

What You Bring

• Highschool diploma or GED equivalent
• Paint prepping, powder coating, and sandblasting experience are considered assets
• Ability to legally work in Canada.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical tasks throughout an 8-hour shift.
• Ability to wear required PPE for the full duration of the workday.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Willingness to learn and follow established processes and procedures.
• Positive attitude and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Good interpersonal skills such as verbal/written communication and listening
