Job Description
Experience the dynamic mail operations and retail environment only Canada Post can offer. As a self-starter with a flexible schedule, you will have the opportunity to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, overnights, and weekends. This temporary on-call position is a great opportunity to learn about mail operations and the various jobs at Canada Post.
Please note that some offices rotate staff, and a temporary Postal Clerk may be called to work at counters, conduct financial transactions, and perform other duties as required.
Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Perform sales/customer service activities to ensure customer satisfaction
- Operate a computer point of sale system
- Maintain floor displays
- Conduct merchandising and inventory control
- Maintain knowledge of postal products, services, and delivery
- Process financial transactions (cash, cheques, debit & credit cards)
- Receive, sort, and batch mail items
Additional Responsibilities
The candidate will also:
- Operate mail processing equipment (e.g., clearing jams)
- Transport mail using rolling or motorized equipment
- Input data into a computer
- Review mail for address accuracy and postage
- Stand for up to 3.5 hours
- Handle mail weighing up to 22.7 kg (50 lbs) and carry items up to 15.9 kg (35 lbs), involving bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Customer service experience in retail
- Sales experience (asset)
- Experience in a production environment (asset)
