Job summary

Carmen’s Event Centre is seeking a part-time, permanent team member to help bring weddings, milestones and special events to life in Hamilton. You’ll set up and tear down event spaces, move furniture and equipment, and ensure smooth operations between events.

Able to lift and move items, remain active on your feet, and work flexible daytime to weekend shifts. Experience in hospitality or general labour is an asset in a fast-paced venue environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in event operations, general labour, or hospitality is an asset.
• A strong work ethic and willingness to perform hands-on, physically active work throughout the shift.
• Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and move furniture and equipment throughout the venue.
• Ability to remain on your feet and move throughout the venue for extended periods.
• Reliable, efficient and able to meet setup/teardown deadlines.
• Commitment to workplace safety, cleanliness, organization and presentation.

Responsibilities

• Set up and tear down event spaces, including moving furniture, décor, staging, and equipment.
• Arrange tables, chairs, staging, dance floors, and equipment according to floor plans.
• Transport event materials and supplies throughout the venue using carts and dollies.
• Assist with audiovisual equipment, extension cords, and basic lighting.
• Keep event spaces, storage areas and back-of-house areas clean and organized.
• Break down spaces quickly and efficiently between events.
• Follow safe lifting and equipment-handling practices.
• Work with the event team to meet setup and teardown timelines.

Carmen's Event Centre is a central part of Hamilton's celebrations, and you can help make each occasion truly memorable. As a member of the team at one of the city's most well‑known event venues, you'll help bring weddings, milestone celebrations, and special events to life.

Position Details:

• Job Type: part-time, permanent
• Vacancy: This posting is for an existing vacancy (replacement for a currently unfilled position)
• Compensation: $18.00 per hour + gratuities

What You Will Be Doing:
