Job summary

Stephenson's Rental Services is seeking a hands-on technician to prepare and service diesel, gas and LP generators and related equipment to rental-ready standards. You will read manuals, follow OEM specs, and test equipment under operating conditions when possible.

The role requires a high school diploma, 1 year of generator servicing experience, and a valid G-class license with a clean abstract. A mechanical aptitude and safety training (WHMIS) are assets for success in a fast-paced,

Responsibilities

• Prepare and service diesel, gas and LP generators and related equipment to rental-ready standards.
• Ensure equipment meets quality and safety requirements and follows OEM specifications.
• Read and refer to owner manuals and schematics; perform testing under operating conditions when possible.
• Maintain inventory and complete paperwork and computer records for servicing activities.
• Provide product knowledge to customers, explain features, benefits and safe operating procedures.

How You'll Contribute

• Clean, check and adequately prepare various diesel and electrical equipment, including diesel, gas and LP generators on customer sites to ensure equipment is rental-ready.
• Ensure that all equipment is rental-ready and meets set quality and safety standards.
• Follow the appropriate checklists and procedures and can read and refer to owner's manuals and schematics.
• Operate and test equipment under actual operating conditions, where possible.
• Determine the serviceability or the need for the equipment repair.
• Complete all services to OEM specifications.
• Possess excellent product knowledge and can effectively transfer this knowledge to customers. This includes but is not limited to explaining features and benefits, safe operating techniques and promoting related accessories/products.
• Ensure every customer is treated in the same fair and consistent manner and resolving issues as they arise.
• Follow all paperwork and computer procedures related to servicing of equipment.
• Maintain all inventory control documents to preserve the integrity of the Rental Management computer system.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of generator servicing or related experience.
Heavy equipment or EGSA certification are assets but not required.
• G Class Driver's License and recent clean driver's abstract.
• Must possess a mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience with Health and Safety training is an asset (i.e. WHMIS, etc.).
• Action-oriented with attention to detail and a focus on quality and safety.
