National Research Council of Canada in Ottawa is seeking an experienced policy professional for an early mid-career RO/RCO-2-3 level position. The role involves shaping policy, applying building standards, and advising senior management.

Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or building science.
Candidates who possess a degree in another field with relevant experience may also be considered.
Assets:
Experience working in the federal, provincial or municipal public service on regulatory policy for the construction sector or as a building official would be an asset.
Experience supporting interdepartmental and/or intergovernmental committees, working groups or forums with internal and external stakeholders would be an asset.
Experience in programs or projects that integrate research outputs into codes, standards or guidelines, would be an asset.
Reliability Status
For a Reliability Status, verification of background information over a period of 5 years is required.
Candidates will be assessed on the basis of the following criteria:
Knowledge of construction research and development performed at NRC and its application to the construction industry would be an asset.

The intent of this hiring action is to staff this position at theRCO-2-3 level, which is an early mid-career level position with a salary range of $ 83,985 to $ 139,608.
NOTE: Please note that the full RO/RCO salary scale has five levels. Salary determination will be based on a review of the candidate’s expertise, outcomes and impacts of their previous work experience relative to the requirements of the level. As such, the initial salary could be within another level of theRO/RCO salary scale (i.e. above or below the intended level for this position).
In addition, the incumbent who meets the language requirements will receive the Bilingualism Bonus of $800per year.
