Job summary

Quesnel School District is seeking a Tradesperson – Plumber/Gas Fitter to maintain and install plumbing, heating, and HVAC systems across District facilities. The role requires independent project work and collaboration with staff, students and the public.

The successful candidate will hold a Red SealPlumber, a Grade B Gas ticket, and a BC Driver's License, with knowledge of boilers and hydronic/forced‑air systems. Competitive benefits accompany the position.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Red Seal Plumber certification mandatory.
  • Valid Grade B Gas ticket (Class A an asset).
  • Valid Class 5 BC driver's license.
  • DDC experience a plus.
  • Experience with commercial plumbing systems.
  • Experience with boiler installation and service.
  • Experience clearing blockages and repairing leaks.
  • Hydronic and forced air multi‑zone heating systems experience.
  • Cross connection certificate an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, install, maintain plumbing, heating, and air conditioning systems.
  • Plan projects and materials for new installations and alterations.
  • Work according to applicable regulations and codes.
  • Report on inventory and work progress.
  • Direct, advise or assist other staff as needed.
  • Maintain tools and safety practices; ensure a safe work environment.
  • Transport materials using District vehicles when required.
  • Stay current with changing technology and practices.
  • Secure inspection certificates and liaise with other trades/utility companies.
  • Perform other duties within knowledge and abilities.
