Base pay range

CA$35.00/hr - CA$45.00/hr

Our well-known manufacturing client in the auto industry in the Vaughan area is looking to add a skilled PLC Programmer to their afternoon shift.

The Role:

  • Develop and document changes to the PLC programs (Omron PLC's), review program changes by other personnel and backup machine PLC, HMI, camera, drive, and other programs.
  • Assist other departments: Engineering, IT, and line contractors with integration and PLC code to ensure proper installation or modification and start-up to systems.
  • Perform all electrical work including repairs on all equipment and machinery as required, including backup of assembly line programs, creating, and modifying line programs.
  • Monitor, maintain and upgrade new and existing equipment with PLC technology.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the latest technologies to improve productivity and quality.
  • Make recommendations to improve equipment efficiency and cost reduction. This includes manufacturing, repairs, and installations of parts, components, services, and equipment.
  • Interface and coordinate with hardware and controls engineers to perform tests on simulation, software, hardware, and systems platforms to validate proper functionality.
  • Travel abroad to machine developers to assist in the validation and sign-off of new machinery.

You Bring:

  • 5 years of experience in PLC programming; preferably in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Omron PLC's.
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or similar technical degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems including robotics.
  • Computer literacy and a sound knowledge of MS Office, Excel, and Outlook is an asset.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Good communication skills (written and oral).
