Job summary

British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) seeks a Platform Engineer ServiceNow co‑op/intern to support ITSM and internal clients. You will configure workflows, review documents, and analyze reports to optimize the ServiceNow platform aligned with business processes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with configuring workflows, forms, and modules in the ServiceNow platform to meet business needs.
  • Review and improve operational documents for accuracy and clarity.
  • Create and analyze reports to provide insights and improve platform usability.
  • Participate in platform upgrades and testing for compatibility and functionality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues reported by users for smooth operation.
  • Test, implement, and document updates and new ServiceNow features.
  • Collaborate to design and implement automated workflows to boost efficiency.
  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements for ServiceNow solutions.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including user guides and procedures.
  • Provide end-user support by addressing inquiries and aiding platform usage.

Use your technical and problem-solving skills to development and implement ServiceNow solutions. The British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is currently seeking a Platform Engineer ServiceNow co‑op student/intern to support our ITSM team and the team’s internal clients.

The Platform Engineer ServiceNow Co‑op/Intern will join our ITSM (IT Service Management) team to support the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the ServiceNow platform within our organization. As part of the role, the co‑op student will collaborate with team members to ensure the platform is effectively aligned with business processes and operational needs.

The role is ideal for students passionate about IT service management, process automation, and platform engineering in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

The Technology department is responsible for developing technology solutions that contribute to the achievement of BCI’s mission and long‑term goals. The department manages the Corporation’s business applications and information technology infrastructure, providing support to a large group of financial professionals. The department is also responsible for authoring technology‑related directives and conducting disaster recovery planning to minimize risk to the Corporation’s delivery of investment services.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
  • Assist the team with configuring workflows, forms, and modules in the ServiceNow platform to meet business needs
  • Review and improve operational documents to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with current processes
  • Work on creating and analyzing reports to provide insights and improve the usability of the ServiceNow platform
  • Participate in platform upgrades, including testing to ensure compatibility, functionality, and a seamless transition
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues reported by users to ensure smooth operation of the platform
  • Participate in testing, implementing, and documenting updates and new features for ServiceNow
  • Collaborate with team members to design and implement automated workflows that improve operational efficiency
  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements to support ServiceNow solutions
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including user guides and platform procedures
  • Provide end‑user support by addressing inquiries and assisting employees in effectively using the platform
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • University-level knowledge of related courses (e.g. computer science or mathematics)
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail
  • Basic understanding of IT concepts, including IT service management or IT support processes
  • Familiarity with one programming or scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, or HTML/CSS
  • Ability to learn new technologies and tools quickly in a fast‑paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documentation and collaboration with team members
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively
  • Enthusiasm for working in a collaborative team environment and contributing to group success

  • Travel: if coming to Victoria for this work term, BCI will provide a fixed‑rate travel allowance based on your location
THE DETAILS
  • Work term: Winter 2027 & Summer 2027 (January to August)

  • Office Location: 750 Pandora Avenue, Victoria, BC
  • Spend your off hours exploring beautiful Victoria and Vancouver Island
  • All co‑ops/internships will need to be completed in person at our Victoria office with the option to work one day per week from home. Please note, some positions are not eligible for hybrid work.
