Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a skilled Databricks Platform Administrator to maintain and support enterprise Azure Databricks environments, ensuring stability, governance, and operational excellence. The role involves Terraform-based infrastructure management, Unity Catalog support, and on-call IT operations.

Candidates should have 3–4+ years in Azure Databricks administration, Terraform, and Azure cloud infra, plus Python/Java scripting for automation.

Qualifications

Job description

DAY TO DAY

• Maintain and support enterprise Azure Databricks environments with a focus on platform stability, governance, and operational excellence.
• Deploy and manage infrastructure using Terraform, including environment updates, enhancements, and ongoing maintenance activities.
• Support Unity Catalog, workspace administration, cluster configuration, user provisioning, and access management.
• Perform patching, upgrades, and operational maintenance to keep cloud environments healthy and compliant.
• Provide L2/L3 support for Databricks platform-related issues and escalation requests.
• Troubleshoot issues across Azure infrastructure, Databricks, networking, IAM, and Terraform deployments.
• Respond to internal customer requests regarding platform access, infrastructure changes, and technical support inquiries.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and tooling using Python and/or Java to support platform operations and administration.
• Support Azure services including Storage Accounts, Azure Active Directory, IAM, Service Principals, App Registrations, and RBAC configurations.
• Collaborate with cloud engineering teams supporting RBC's enterprise data platform ecosystem.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps processes, primarily from a support and maintenance perspective rather than greenfield development.

MUST HAVES

1. Azure Databricks Platform Administration (3-4+ years)

• Experience supporting Databricks environments in production.
• Strong understanding of:
• Workspace administration
• Unity Catalog
• Cluster management
• SCIM integrations
• User provisioning
• Access controls

2. Terraform (3-4+ years)

• Hands-on experience writing and maintaining Terraform modules.
• Experience with:
• State management
• Infrastructure maintenance

3. Azure Cloud Infrastructure (3-4+ years)

• Experience supporting enterprise Azure environments.
• Knowledge of:
• Storage Accounts
• IAM
• App Registrations
• RBAC

4. Programming Experience

• Hands-on experience with Python and/or Java.
• Ability to write scripts and automation tooling to support cloud platform operations.

5. Azure Networking (2-3+ years)

• Experience working with:
• VNets
• Subnets
• CIDR management
• VNet peering
• Firewall rules
• Connectivity troubleshooting

6. IT Operations & Support

• Minimum 5 years of overall IT experience.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capabilities.
• Experience supporting enterprise production environments.
• Comfortable participating in an on-call rotation.

PLUSES

• Experience with RBC internal platforms:
• Fireflow
• MPP
• Exposure to Power BI networking/connectivity setup.
• Experience supporting CI/CD platforms and release processes.
• Previous experience within a large financial institution or enterprise banking environment.
• Azure and/or Databricks certifications.
