Job summary

Ice River Sustainable Solutions is hiring a Plastic Sheetline Helper/Box Maker to support the extrusion process and packaging operations. This entry‑level position offers on‑the‑job training, a safety‑focused environment, and opportunities for growth within a Canadian, employee‑owned manufacturing group.

You will assist with setup, material handling, quality checks, and packaging, while working closely with operators and team leads to maintain continuous production flow.

Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing or production is preferred, but on‑the‑job training will be provided.
  • Ability to work in a team and follow standard operating procedures.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn plastic sheetline operations.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality checks on packaging and finished products.
  • Capable of repetitive tasks while maintaining consistent quality and productivity.
  • Flexible to work evening/night shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Sheetline Operators with setup and operation of extrusion equipment.
  • Move materials and packaging supplies using pallet jacks and carts.
  • Monitor sheetline and finished sheets for defects or contamination.
  • Assemble, fold, and prepare cardboard boxes and packaging materials.
  • Package and label finished sheets for storage or shipment.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe production area throughout shift.
  • Follow all safety procedures and use PPE as required.
  • Communicate quality issues to supervisors promptly.
  • Learn plastic extrusion processes and participate in training opportunities.

Position Summary

The Plastic Sheetline Helper is an essential member of the production team, supporting the safe and efficient operation of the plastic sheetline extrusion process. This entry‑level position assists Sheetline Operators with production activities, material handling, quality inspections, packaging, and maintaining a clean and organized work area.

The Helper/Box Maker is also responsible for assembling and preparing boxes and packaging materials used for finished plastic sheet products. This role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, teamwork, and a willingness to learn the sheetline production process.

The Plastic Sheetline Helper / Box Maker works closely with operators, team leads, and other production employees to maintain a continuous production flow and ensure products meet quality and packaging requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist Sheetline Operators with the setup and operation of plastic extrusion sheetline equipment as directed.
  • Assist with loading and moving raw materials, packaging supplies, and finished products throughout the production area.
  • Use pallet jacks, carts, and other material-handling equipment as required.
  • Assist with feeding materials and maintaining adequate material supplies for continuous production.
  • Monitor the sheetline and finished product for visible defects, damage, contamination, or other quality concerns.
  • Communicate quality issues or production concerns promptly to the Sheetline Operator or Team Lead.
  • Assist with removing, stacking, counting, and packaging finished plastic sheets according to production specifications.
  • Assemble, fold, and prepare cardboard boxes and other packaging materials for finished products.
  • Place finished sheets into boxes or designated packaging while ensuring products are properly protected and organized.
  • Label, identify, and prepare completed boxes or pallets for storage or shipment as required.
  • Assist with wrapping, stacking, and securing finished products for safe handling and transportation.
  • Remove scrap, waste, and production materials from the work area and dispose of them in the appropriate locations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production area throughout the shift.
  • Assist with routine cleaning of the sheetline, equipment, and surrounding production areas as directed.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and safe material-handling practices.
  • Report unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, product defects, or other issues to the appropriate supervisor or operator.
  • Work collaboratively with the production team to maintain efficient workflow and meet production targets.
  • Follow instructions from Sheetline Operators, Team Leads, and Supervisors.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn plastic extrusion processes, equipment, quality requirements, and other production skills.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Skills/Experience:
  • Previous manufacturing, production, packaging, or warehouse experience is an asset; however, on-the-job training will be provided.
  • Previous experience working with plastic products or extrusion equipment is an asset.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn plastic sheetline operations.
  • Good attention to detail, particularly when inspecting and packaging finished products.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining a consistent level of quality and productivity.
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, stack, and move materials and finished products.
  • Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.
Working Environment and Physical Demands:
  • Work is primarily performed in a manufacturing and production environment.
  • The position requires standing and walking for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Regular bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling may be required.
  • The position involves repetitive activities such as stacking plastic sheets, assembling boxes, packaging products, and maintaining the production area.
  • Ability to lift and move materials and finished products safely, with assistance or material‑handling equipment used when required.
  • May be exposed to heat, noise, moving machinery, dust, and other conditions typical of a plastic manufacturing environment.
  • Proper lifting techniques and safe material‑handling practices must be followed at all times.
  • Required PPE may include safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, steel‑toed footwear, and other protective equipment as required.
  • Must remain alert and aware of surroundings when working around moving equipment and production machinery.
  • Effective communication with Sheetline Operators, Team Leads, Supervisors, and other production employees is essential.

Pay Rate $23.43 per hour.
