Job summary

Randstad Canada is seeking a Plant Supervisor in Winnipeg to provide front-line leadership for a production team. You will coach staff, drive safety, quality and productivity, and ensure efficient daily operations on site.

You will supervise 15–20 staff, monitor KPIs, and implement Lean techniques to minimize downtime and waste while maintaining a safe, compliant workplace.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in industrial production/manufacturing.
• Strong coaching and relationship-building to lead a 15–20 staff.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills for daily challenges.
• Proficiency in Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills balancing supervision and office work.
• Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) for KPI reporting.
• Effective communication for start-up meetings and cross-functional coordination.

Responsibilities

• Manage PPE and MRO inventory to keep the plant stocked and safe.

As a Plant Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing front-line leadership in the day-to-day operations of a designated production team. You will serve as the backbone of the manufacturing process, offering guidance and coaching to team members to foster success, maintain peak operational efficiency, and drive production metrics forward.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and training to accomplish production objectives for Safety, Quality, Production, and Maintenance for all employees.
• Supervise daily production activities to ensure goals and objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Monitor shift performance rigorously against established safety, quality, and production standards.
• Input production data accurately into the system to measure and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) regarding efficiencies, downtime, and inventory.
• Lead daily employee start-up meetings to set expectations and communicate vital operational updates.
• Collaborate with team members to control efficiencies, minimize labor overtime, reduce downtime, and lower repair expenses by implementing cost-effective systems.
• Promote shop floor organization and plant housekeeping through active employee participation and Lean techniques (5S, Kaizen, 7 wastes, TPM).
• Train new employees across all areas of the production floor to ensure operational readiness.
• Manage the inventory of PPE and MRO items to ensure the plant remains fully stocked and safe.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience within an industrial production or manufacturing environment (an equivalent combination of education and experience is an asset).
• Exceptional coaching and relationship-building capabilities to effectively lead and motivate a team of 15-20 staff.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving expertise to quickly overcome daily production challenges and bottlenecks.
• Proficiency in Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills to balance plant floor supervision (80%) and office administration (20%).
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook for KPI tracking and reporting.
• Effective communication skills for leading start-up meetings and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
