Job summary

Qualifications

  • Experience in an industrial plant, manufacturing, or similar operations environment.

  • Comfort with using computers for monitoring equipment, work orders, and reporting.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Trades background in instrumentation or electrical or a technology diploma is a strong asset.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting abilities.
  • Lifting up to 25 kg, stairs and ladders, confined spaces, and PPE.

Responsibilities

  • Mix of operations, maintenance, and site coordination to keep the plant running safely and efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot equipment or process issues, perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance activities, including shutdowns/turnarounds with contractors as needed.
  • Track maintenance records, manage spare parts inventory, and ensure inspections are completed on schedule.
  • Serve as main point of contact for customers regarding plant status and quality requirements.
  • Handle administrative tasks including expense tracking, purchasing parts, and supporting capital reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations; conduct investigations and follow-up actions.
  • Manage the electronic work order system and maintain accurate safety training records.

As Plant Superintendent, you are responsible for the safe and reliable operation of unmanned Onsite Industrial Gas Production Facilities. Your primary facilities are VPSA Oxygen facilities located in Grande Prairie, AB and Grassland, AB. The ideal candidate would currently reside in Grande Prairie, AB or Grassland, AB. The role requires travel and after-hours support.

What you will enjoy doing*
  • This role is a mix of operations, maintenance, and site coordination, where you'll be responsible for keeping the plant running safely and efficiently
  • You'll use your troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve equipment or process issues and handle minor repairs and preventative maintenance
  • You'll help plan and coordinate maintenance activities, including shutdowns/turnarounds, and work with contractors when additional support is needed
  • Part of the role involves tracking maintenance records, managing spare parts inventory, and making sure equipment inspections are completed on schedule
  • You'll be the main point of contact for customers regarding plant status and will ensure quality requirements are consistently met
  • There is some administrative responsibility as well, including expense tracking, purchasing parts and materials, and supporting capital project reporting
  • Safety is a major focus, so you'll be responsible for ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations, completing investigations, and following up on audit/action items
  • You'll also manage the electronic work order system, maintain accurate records, and stay up to date with all required safety training

  • We're looking for someone with solid mechanical aptitude who enjoys troubleshooting and solving equipment-related issues
  • The role is physically active and requires lifting up to 25 kg, climbing stairs and ladders, working in confined spaces, and wearing the required personal protective equipment (PPE)
