Job summary

Sofina Foods Inc. is seeking a Plant Manager to lead manufacturing, logistics, quality, and service, driving continuous improvement to optimize plant performance.

You will guide a team to exceed KPIs for cost, safety, regulatory compliance, maintenance, environment, quality, and customer service. Responsibilities include managing production capacity, safety, QA programs, leadership development, and union relations, while ensuring compliance with standards and governing regulations.

Qualifications

  • Related post secondary degree with a minimum of 5 years plant or technical production management experience, preferably in Food Processing.
  • Operational knowledge from leadership roles, ideally overseeing plant operations.
  • Demonstrated people management and development capability, with success in leading teams in a unionized setting.
  • Experience with continuous improvement principles and programs.
  • Well-developed communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Critical thinker with ability to apply practices, develop action plans and meet deadlines while upholding company values.
  • Collaborative leadership: ability to solicit input and take charge when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a safe working environment and ensure compliance with OHS, environmental and corporate standards.
  • Oversee QA programs to ensure product quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify and develop plant leadership capabilities and manage performance and development.
  • Promote positive labour relations with the Union and manage collective bargaining processes where applicable.
  • Oversee efficient deployment of human resources and administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Job description

Position Summary:

Reporting to the VP, Operations, the Plant Manager is responsible for driving continuous improvement across all aspects of manufacturing, logistics, quality and service to optimize plant performance. The Plant Manager is responsible for leading a team of people to exceed and deliver on key performance indicators for cost, safety and regulatory compliance, maintenance and engineering, environment, quality, and customer service.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Strategically manage production capacity to meet requirements. Accountable for product yield, labour efficiency and overhead expenses.
  • Foster a safe working environment, ensuring compliance to all OHS and environmental regulatory and corporate standards. Investigate and identify root causes of any non-compliance and manage development and implementation of preventative measures.
  • Oversee effective application and implementation of QA programs and processes to ensure required product quality. Ensure programs and processes are current, functional and comply with company standards and government regulations.
  • In coordination with Human Resources identify and develop the capability and skill set of plant leadership team to achieve business results. Manage performance and encourage development activities, providing feedback and guidance.
  • Promote a collaborative labour relations environment, building positive relationships with Stewards and the Union representatives, and where applicable manage significant union issues
  • Oversee effective deployment of human resources throughout the plant and ensure the correct administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Requirements:
  • Related Post Secondary Degree coupled with a minimum of 5 years plant or technical production management experience preferably within the Food Processing industry.
  • Operational knowledge acquired through leadership roles and/or related experience, preferably overseeing previous plant operations.
  • Demonstrated people management and development capability, proven success in leading and inspiring teams to excel in a unionized workplace.
  • Experience with continuous improvement principles and programs, including engagement in and implementation of theseinitiatives.
  • Well-developed communication skill and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Critical thinker with the ability to apply practices, develop and initiate action plans to meet deadlines and achieve results while respecting core corporate values.
  • Collaborative leadership qualities with the ability to solicit advice from their team and the ability to take charge, show initiative and make sound business decisions.
