Job summary

George Thomas, in partnership with a North American packaging manufacturer, is seeking a Plant Financial Controller for their manufacturing facility in the Greater Hamilton (Burlington), ON region. The role is onsite and offers a salary of CA$125,000 to CA$145,000 plus bonus, pension, and fringe benefits.

You will lead accounting functions, close cycles, manage cash and forecasting, and drive process improvements while ensuring GAAP compliance and strong internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of accounting management experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting.
• Experience with ERP systems.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to develop high-performing teams.
• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all accounting functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, General Ledger, Treasury, and financial reporting.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and prepare accurate financial statements and management reports.
• Monitor cash flow, company investments, and financial performance to support business objectives.
• Develop budgets, forecasts, and financial plans while identifying opportunities to improve profitability and reduce costs.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, government regulations, and internal policies
• Establish and maintain strong financial controls and reporting systems
• Collaborate with external auditors and support audit activities.
• Analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide recommendations to senior leadership.
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members through coaching, feedback, and performance management.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across accounting systems, processes, and reporting functions
