Job summary

Drake International in Ontario seeks a Controller to lead the accounting function, overseeing month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.

This hands-on role partners with senior leadership across operations and sales to improve processes, drive financial performance, and support strategic initiatives. Hybrid work arrangement with main office in Aylmer.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Experience preparing financial statements and management reporting packages.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the full accounting cycle, including monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
• Prepare accurate financial statements, management reports, variance analysis, and commentary.
• Manage general ledger activities, reconciliations, journal entries, and working papers.
• Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Analyze cost changes, expenses, and business performance metrics.
• Establish, monitor, and improve internal controls and accounting processes.
• Coordinate internal and external financial reporting requirements.
• Support year-end audit preparation and liaise with external auditors.
• Supervise Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and general accounting functions.
• Prepare ad hoc reporting and financial analysis to support business decisions.
• Partner with multiple departments to improve financial visibility and operational performance.
• Lead special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

A growing manufacturing and engineered solutions organization is seeking a Controller to lead the accounting function and support financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and operational decision-making. This role works closely with operations, sales, suppliers, customers, and external auditors to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong controls, and timely business insights.

What We're Looking For:

• 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong understanding of full‑cycle accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
• Experience preparing financial statements and management reporting packages
• Proven experience implementing and improving accounting processes and internal controls
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
• Experience managing or mentoring accounting staff
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
• Exposure to ERP systems and accounting software
• Strong project management, organizational, and time‑management skills
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities
• Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments
• Manufacturing, industrial, or project‑based environment experience is considered an asset
