The Company

Our client is an established and successful organization. Due to growth into a new sector, they are looking to hire a Plant Controller for their Hamilton location.

The Role

The Plant Controller reports to the Corporate Controller and SVP at the Head Office. Responsibilities include managing all financial aspects of the Hamilton plant, overseeing 3 direct reports, and handling month-end close, journal entries, costing, inventory, billing, A/R, purchasing, and A/P. The role also involves leading the ERP system implementation, preparing financial statements, management reports, and participating in the site leadership team.

What do you bring to the role?

• 5+ years of cost and financial accounting experience in manufacturing
• Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems
• Organized, proactive, detail-oriented, self-managing, and team-oriented
• Technical accounting skills with process improvement capabilities
• CPA designation
• Experience with steel fabrication and construction is an asset

• Manage all accounting, financial reporting, and projections for the Hamilton plant, collaborating with senior management on financial targets and budgeting
• Oversee financial operations including costing, billing, receivables, inventory, and general ledger maintenance
• Lead ERP system implementation and related processes
• Participate in the plant leadership team, fostering team development and process improvements
• Prepare financial reports for stakeholders and support month-end and audit processes
• Establish a capital expenditure process for evaluating and tracking spending
• Identify risks, evaluate best practices, and implement improvements
