Job summary

EllisDon is seeking a Planner and Scheduler in Edmonton to develop and maintain comprehensive project master schedules for complex projects. You will update schedules, review reports, and track critical paths and risks in collaboration with project managers and teams.

Ideal candidates bring five years of scheduling experience on institutional, commercial, industrial, and residential projects, with strong skills in Primavera P6, MS Project, and 4D scheduling.

• A construction-related degree/diploma and five years of construction scheduling experience.
• Experience on institutional, commercial, industrial, and residential projects.
• Experience with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
• Experience with RSMeans and Tilos.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to write professional reports, narratives, and analyses.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare comprehensive project master schedules for high-complexity projects per contract and EllisDon standards.
• Prepare schedule updates, including cash flow updates, per Management System guidelines.
• Review and provide feedback on reports generated by Project Managers and team members.
• Track and report on schedule float and critical path activities.
• Define criticality criteria per contract documents and identify critical/near-critical paths.
• Identify and communicate schedule-related risks and opportunities to the project team.
• Define optimum risk response plans to support on-time completion.
• Lead discussions on corrective actions and schedule mitigation measures.
• Collaborate with clients, consultants and contractors’ scheduling teams on baselines.

You as a Planner and Scheduler will:

• Prepare comprehensive project master schedules for high-complexity projects in accordance with contract requirements and EllisDon standards
• Prepare schedule updates, including cash flow updates, in accordance with EllisDon Management System guidelines
• Review and provide feedback on reports generated by Project Managers and team members
• Track and report on schedule float and critical path activities
• Define criticality criteria per contract documents and identify critical and near-critical path activities
• Identify and communicate schedule-related risks and opportunities to the project team
• Define optimum risk response plans to support on-time project completion
• Ensure schedules are robust and appropriate to support potential extension of time claims
• Demonstrate strong understanding of delay analysis methodologies and collaborate with external delay experts on extension of time claims
• Establish strong working relationships with clients, consultants and contractors’ scheduling teams to develop and maintain project baseline schedules
• Lead discussions on corrective actions, schedule mitigation measures, and resequencing with project teams

Is this the right role for you?

• You have a construction-related degree/diploma and five years of construction scheduling experience or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
• You have experience working with institutional, commercial, industrial, and residential projects.
• Experience using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, and with 4D scheduling is an asset.
• Experience using RSMeans and Tilos.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to write professional reports, narratives, and analyses.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
