Day & Ross Hartland, NB is seeking a Planner to oversee the timely movement of freight and optimize linehaul operations. This full-time role emphasizes planning, organizing runs and coordinating with drivers, brokers and terminal staff to minimize delays and empty miles.

The ideal candidate has post-secondary education in logistics or business administration and at least two years in a time-sensitive planning role within transportation, with strong communication and computer skills including MS

Qualifications

  • Post secondary education in logistics or business administration.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a time sensitive planning/organizing role, preferably in transportation.
  • Highly organized with multitasking ability and status awareness.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook; TruckMate is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Identify loads 2–7 days out and organize for greatest efficiency.
  • Assign and line up loads and deliveries based on efficiency and broker information.
  • Monitor scheduled runs and advise Brokers/CSR/Planner of changes.
  • Oversee daily activities of Drivers and address issues with Brokers; escalate as needed.
  • Ensure on-time and safe movement of freight between customers and terminals.

Planner

Full-time

Hartland, NB

Schedule: Monday – Thursday 6am - 4pm

Planning, organizing, and monitoring runs and deliveries in order to ensure the most timely and efficient movement of trucks and to minimize empty miles and wait times.

How You’ll Help
  • Identify required loads two to seven days out and organize for greatest efficiency.
  • Assign and line up loads and deliveries based on efficiency and information from Brokers.
  • Monitor scheduled runs to ensure they are on schedule and advise Brokers, Customer Service, and/or Planner in next region of any changes.
  • Oversee daily activities of Drivers and address issues (e.g. load refusals, late deliveries, poor customer service) with Brokers; escalate issues to Fleet Services as required.
  • Planners are tasked with the safe on time movement of freight between our customers and our terminal with scheduled and nonscheduled linehaul units.
  • Responsible for monitoring loads and trucks in a specific geography prioritizing and planning power to move loads to destination.
  • Communicate with drivers and brokers to execute plans.
  • Answer calls, email and other forms of communication to drivers, terminal staff, CSR and other departments.
  • Monitor road and weather conditions and initiate required actions in accordance with D&R policy.
  • Complete various reports and documents as required.
  • Be an active part of the Linehaul Team and foster a positive environment of continuous improvement.
  • Other related duties may be assigned.
Your Skills & Experience
  • Post secondary education in logistics or business administration.
  • An acceptable combination of education and training may be considered.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a time sensitive, planning and organizing role, preferable in the transportation industry.
  • Highly organized with exceptional ability to multitask and stay on top of current status.
  • Sense of urgency and responsive to changes in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel and Outlook; experience with TruckMate would be considered a strong asset.
