Job summary

The Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) is seeking a permanent full-time Plan Checker I based in Salmon Arm, BC. You will coordinate and examine plans and specifications accompanying building inspections to ensure compliance with the BC Building Code, CSRD Building Bylaw, and other bylaws.

Working under the Manager of Building and Bylaw Services, you will provide high-level customer service, advise external clients, and review building applications and inspections to ensure efficient

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with a Diploma in Building Technology or related field.
• At least 2 years construction experience and 1 year in a local government building dept.
• Must complete Qualified Level 1 Building exams.
• Valid BC Driver’s License.
• Equivalent education/experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and examine plans and specifications with building inspections and permit applications to ensure BC Building Code compliance.
• Provide high-level customer service and guidance to external clients regarding the CSRD Building Bylaw, Part 9 of the BC Building Code, and the Building Act.
• Review building applications and inspections efficiently and provide direction to staff and applicants.
