Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduation from an Institute of Technology with a Building Technology diploma.
• Related experience in the building construction industry or municipal regulatory work.
• Knowledge of municipal bylaws and provincial building code and regulations.
• Ability to interpret building construction plans quickly and accurately.

Responsibilities

• Check building plans and permit applications for conformance to the BC Building Code and regulations.
• Discuss non-conforming items with principals involved and prepare/issue permits when compliant.
• Draft routine correspondence, maintain records, and file plans.
• Answer inquiries about regulations and bylaws; provide information to inspectors and staff.
• Carry out special departmental projects as directed.
