Job summary

Pomerleau in Canada is seeking a Piping Supervisor to lead coordination between contractors and the Client Representative, ensuring work is carried out safely, within plans, and on schedule.

You will evaluate contractor progress on site, review drawings, coordinate with engineers on changes, and verify permits and licenses before work begins. Strong communication and contractor management are essential to succeed in our heavy industrial projects.

Qualifications

  • DEC in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 5–10 years in mechanical construction management or similar role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience managing contractor relationships.
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment construction context.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate contractor progress on site and coordinate with engineers.

  • Identify execution challenges and adjust methods for site conditions.
  • Organize site visits with contractors and stakeholders for tenders.

The Piping Supervisor is the primary point of contact with the Contractor for all matters related to work coordination, execution, and communication with the Client Representative. He ensures that contractors carry out their tasks safely, in accordance with the plans and specifications, and within the established schedule.

What you will do
  • Evaluate the progress of contractors on the construction site.
  • Coordinate with engineers on technical aspects and the implementation of change requests.
  • Review construction drawings prior to implementation and validate the scope of work against the contractor’s construction contract.
  • Identify execution challenges when possible and confirm with the contractor that work methods take site‑specific conditions into account.
  • Analyze technical questions and answers with the contractor and engineers, and initiate the change request process if necessary (in coordination with the contractor).
  • Organize site visits with contractors and other stakeholders, as needed, for tender packages.
  • Coordinate with the site safety team when required.
  • Coordinate with the environmental team when required.
  • Ensure that the contractor holds all site‑specific work permits and required licenses before starting work.
  • Collaborate with the health and safety prevention team, when necessary, to review work methods and ensure they are safe.
This role could be for you if you have
  • Technical training in mechanical engineering (DEC) or equivalent experience.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in Mechanical Construction Management or in a similar role within a heavy industrial environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in managing relationships with contractors.
  • Knowledge of the context of mechanical equipment construction.
  • Familiarity with major equipment installed in industrial construction projects.
