Assignment Description
We are seeking an experienced Piping Designer to join our Client's engineering and design team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing detailed piping designs, layouts, drawings, and 3D models for industrial and energy-sector projects.
Working closely with engineers, project managers, and other disciplines, the Piping Designer will help deliver safe, practical, and cost-effective design solutions that meet client requirements, applicable codes, and industry standards.
Develop and maintain piping layouts, designs, and detailed drawings for industrial projects.
Prepare piping plans, isometrics, spool drawings, general arrangements, and 3D models.
Review and interpret P&IDs, equipment drawings, specifications, and other engineering documentation.
Develop piping routes while considering constructability, accessibility, maintenance, and safety requirements.
Coordinate piping designs with process, mechanical, structural, electrical, and other engineering disciplines.
Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, client specifications, and project requirements.
Participate in design reviews and incorporate comments and revisions as required.
Identify and resolve design issues in collaboration with engineering and project teams.
Assist with material take-offs and piping quantity estimates.
Provide design support during fabrication, construction, commissioning, and field activities.
Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure drawings are completed in accordance with project schedules.
Perform other related duties as required.
Diploma or certificate in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting Technology, or a related discipline.
3+ years of experience in piping design, preferably within an industrial, oil & gas, marine, or energy environment.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Plant 3D, SmartPlant 3D, PDMS, or similar design software.
Strong understanding of piping layouts, components, materials, and design practices.
Familiarity with applicable piping codes and standards such as ASME B31.3.
Ability to interpret P&IDs, equipment drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Strong problem-solving and technical skills.
Previous experience working on brownfield or offshore projects would be considered an asset.
