We are seeking one Pipeline Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to join our Medical Affairs team. In this role, you will develop and nurture relationships, and enhance our scientific credibility with established and emerging external experts (EEs) in Oncology. This position is based in Quebec and reports to the Medical Manager, Pipeline Oncology.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure a strong medical and scientific presence for AbbVie at investigational sites and key scientific centers by facilitating clinical research of phases 1 to 3 interventional trials with our medications, and support requests for medical and scientific information on products or therapeutic areas of interest.
  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with Site Management & Monitoring staff, and collaborate in the initiation and conduct of prioritized AbbVie-led clinical trials.
  • Provide scientific and technical leadership to build professional and trusted relationships with investigators.
  • Act as the point of contact for investigator-initiated study (IIS) ideas involving AbbVie's pipeline assets.
  • Deliver presentations on scientific topics within your disease area and on AbbVie's pipeline to investigators involved in sponsored interventional research.
  • Identify opportunities for R&D collaborations with key institutions and opinion leaders, liaising with Medical Affairs or Clinical Development teams for further assessment.
  • Assist with medical and scientific field intelligence, such as maintaining a list of investigators, understanding competitive research activities, and generating insights from investigators on clinical trial challenges and opportunities.

Qualifications

Education / Experience required:

  • Doctorate or MD preferred; a Master of Science degree in a related discipline with relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Relevant industry experience, especially in biotech/pharmaceuticals.
  • Previous experience as an MSL is preferred.
  • Therapeutic area expertise is required.
  • Experience in a customer-facing healthcare role.
  • Proficiency in interpreting scientific or clinical research publications.

Additional skills include developing and maintaining expert knowledge, understanding pharmaceutical regulations, and excellent communication skills for building relationships with healthcare professionals.

Essential skills and abilities:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Comfort with technology and virtual interactions.
  • Strong commitment to compliance and scientific integrity.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 60% of the time.
  • Valid driver's license and passport.

Note: Fluency in English is essential for this role due to the company's operational and client engagement requirements outside Quebec.
