Job summary

BEMAC (Bemac Construction Corp.) is seeking qualified Pipefitters for on-site construction near Fort McKay, Alberta for a one-month assignment on the Imperial Oil project. The rotation is 21 days on with 12-hour days, with fly-in/fly-out options from Edmonton or Calgary.

Hourly rates range from $32.15 to $53.58, with safety, teamwork and quality expectations. Candidates should have Apprenticeship to Journeyperson Red Seal level, pipefitting experience, and ability to read drawings;

Qualifications

  • Apprentice up to Journeyperson Red Seal level.
  • Strong pipefitting knowledge and hands-on experience.
  • Experience in an industrial setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pipefitting duties safely and efficiently per regulations and site procedures.
  • Read drawings, blueprints, and specs to determine layout requirements.
  • Cut, Thread, Bend and assemble piping systems; weld, braze, solder joints as needed.
  • Install supports, valves, piping, and control systems; hydrotest for leaks.

We are currently seeking qualified Pipefitters to join our on-site Construction team for one-monthbased at a remote camp location near Fort McKay, Alberta. This position offers the opportunity to participate in the construction of the Imperial Oil (IOL) Kearl Lake Sodium Citrate Injection Process System.

The schedule is planned as a 21-day-on rotation, consisting of 12-hour workdays. While preference will be given to local candidates, fly-in/fly-outoptions from Edmonton, Alberta, and Calgary, Alberta may be available based on eligibility.

Hourly rate: Ranges from $32.15/hr. to $53.58/hr.

Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications to determine layout requirements
  • Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
  • Select type and size of pipe required
  • Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools
  • Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
  • Install supports, valves, piping and control systems
  • Hydrotest system for leaks using testing equipment
  • Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system
  • Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system
  • Other duties as required
Qualifications
  • Apprentice up to and including Journeyperson Red Seal level
  • Strong technical knowledge and proven experience in pipefitting
  • Experience in an industrial setting required
  • Knowledge and experience with industrial construction and operations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate with all levels of a project organization

Required Tickets:

  • Fall Protection Certification

As part of the recruitment process, successful clearance of applicable pre-employment checks is required which may include Criminal Background/Police Information check, Drug & Alcohol test, Reference checks as well as submittal of Provincial Driver’s Abstract. In addition, standard HSE certifications may be required including WHMIS, First Aid etc.
