Job summary

BEMAC is seeking a B-Pressure Welder to join the on-site construction team for a one-month project near Fort MacKay, Alberta. This role supports the Imperial Oil Kearl Lake Sodium Citrate Injection Process System, with a 21-on/7-off, 10-hour day rotation.

Candidates must read welding procedures, weld with GTAW/GMAW/FCAW and related processes, inspect welds, and maintain site safety. FIFO from Edmonton/Calgary available; local candidates preferred.

Qualifications

  • Journeyperson Red Seal Welder.
  • B-Pressure certification from ABSA or equivalent.
  • Able to weld pipe with E6010 single sided.
  • Have welding tickets all position P1-P15 material.
  • Have welding ticket all position structural welding from CWB.
  • Able to read and understand project welding procedures and NDE records.
  • Able to do visual inspection of own weld after completion.
  • Able to check weld fillet gauges as required by drawings.
  • Strong technical knowledge and proven experience as a Rig Welder.
  • Experience in an industrial setting required.

  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, PAW, SMAW, OAW, SAW.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.
  • Operate brazing and soldering equipment.
  • Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears and other equipment.
  • Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers.
  • Operate welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts.
  • Operate brazing or soldering machines to bond metal parts.
  • Start up, shut down, adjust and monitor robotic welding production line.
  • Assist with maintenance and repair of welding equipment; adjust welding heads and tooling.

Job Description

We are currently seeking qualified B-Pressure Welder to join our on-site Construction team, for a one-month project, based out of a remote camp location near Fort MacKay, Alberta. This position offers the opportunity to participate in construction on the Imperial Oil (IOL) Kearl Lake Sodium Citrate Injection Process System. The shift is planned to be 21 days on and 7 days off rotation, 10-hour days. While the preference is to hire candidates who resides locally, fly-in, fly-out from Edmonton, Alberta or Calgary, Alberta will be available based on eligibility.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures
  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), plasma arc welding (PAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), oxy-acetylene welding (OAW), resistance welding and submerged arc welding (SAW)
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
  • Operate brazing and soldering equipment
  • Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening and bending machines
  • Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers.
  • Operate previously set up welding machines such as spot, butt and seam resistance or gas and arc welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts
  • Operate previously set up brazing or soldering machines to bond metal parts or to fill holes, indentations and seams of metal articles with solder
  • Start up, shut down, adjust and monitor robotic welding production line
  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of welding, brazing and soldering equipmentMay adjust welding heads and tooling according to work specifications.

  • Able to check preheat and interpass temperature requirements
  • Strong technical knowledge and proven experience as a Rig Welder
  • Experience in an industrial setting required

As part of the recruitment process, successful clearance of applicable pre-employment checks is required which may include Criminal Background/Police Information check, Drug & Alcohol test, Reference checks as well as submittal of Provincial Driver’s Abstract. In addition, standard HSE certifications may be required including WHMIS, Fall Arrest, First Aid etc.
