Job summary

The Canalta Group of Companies is seeking a Pipe Finishing Technician for our Red Deer head office, supporting the Pipe Finishing & Crating department. The role is hands-on, demanding, and involves honing, grinding, measuring, and safe handling of industrial pipe and fittings.

You’ll operate honing machines, verify dimensions, and maintain equipment with training provided. Benefits include a 40-hour week, benefits after 3 months, EFAP, retirement plan eligibility after 6 months, paid time off,

Qualifications

• Follow drawings and work instructions precisely.
• Use measuring tools to verify dimensions.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness to complete forklift, overhead crane, and safety training.
• 1–3 years honing/grinding/machining experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare pipe for honing by buffing and grinding internal root welds and surfaces.
• Set up and operate honing machines to meet dimensions and finishes.
• Grind, clean and preserve fittings to prevent corrosion.
• Measure pipe and fittings before, during, and after processing.
• Use grinding tools and lifting equipment safely.
• Record job and inspection data and keep area organized.
• Follow safe work procedures and report safety concerns.
