Job summary

CarboMat Inc. is seeking a Process Development Specialist to support the development, optimization, and scale-up of carbon fiber technology at a Calgary-based facility. This full-time, one-year position reports to technical leadership and involves piloting, testing, and documenting processes from precursor handling through carbonization.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant engineering/science field or a bachelor's with industrial experience.
  • Proven ability to design and execute process development experiments.
  • Experience with pilot-scale or lab-scale extruders and reactors is preferred.
  • Knowledge of carbon fiber processing steps and related high-temperature processing is advantageous.
  • Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and operate pilot-scale carbon fiber production equipment and related steps.
  • Plan, design, and execute experimental procedures to optimize processing conditions and product quality.
  • Analyze data to relate process conditions to material properties and performance.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to support technology scale‑up.
  • Prepare technical reports, SOPs, and documentation for stakeholders.
  • Ensure safety procedures and best practices are followed during pilot operations.
